The Asia for Animals (AfA) Coalition is a network of hundreds of global animal welfare organizations, founded in 2001. It is the largest of its kind in the world. AfA acts as a united voice for its members, appealing to governments and specific facilities to oppose animal cruelty across Asia. The coalition also facilitates issue-specific working groups and events to capitalize on the expertise of its network to solve issues facing Asia’s animals. AfA is composed of 24 well-known and well-respected animal welfare organizations with a shared vision and goal of improving the welfare of animals in Asia.

The mission of the Asia for Animals Coalition is to act as a united voice for its members and appeal to governments and specific facilities opposing animal cruelty across Asia. AfA facilitates several issue-specific working groups & events to capitalize on the expertise of its network to solve the issues facing Asia’s animals. The biennial AfA Conference is the largest gathering of animal welfare organizations in Asia. Its purpose is to share information, highlight best practice and build strategies to improve the lives for the animals of Asia.

Working groups

The Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition (SMACC) is a group formed by members of the Asia for Animals Coalition in May 2020. The aim of SMACC is to bring organizations together to understand, address and end the proliferation of animal cruelty content available on social media platforms. They seek to collaborate with social media platforms in order to end the availability, spread and profitability of cruelty content, and to ensure that there are no benefits to the creation or promotion of cruelty content.
