The End of Medicine is a 2022 documentary directed by Alex Lockwood and produced by Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara. It explores the way in which we consume and treat animals, drives the emergence of existential health threats such as zoonotic disease, chronic disease, and antimicrobial resistance. The film follows former factory farm livestock vet and whistleblower Dr. Alice Brough as she grapples with the enormity of animal agriculture and the key role it has played historically and currently in not only killer diseases and pandemics, but climate change and environmental destruction as well.
